Publication Ethics
The Journal of Business and Economic Perspectives (JBEP) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. All parties involved in the publishing process authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher must adhere to the ethical standards outlined below.
- Responsibilities of Authors
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and properly cites the work and ideas of others. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will lead to rejection or retraction.
- Data Accuracy: Authors must present accurate data and acknowledge any limitations or errors in their research. Fabrication or falsification of data is unethical and prohibited.
- Multiple Submissions: Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is unethical and unacceptable.
- Acknowledgement of Sources: Authors should acknowledge all sources of financial support and contributions to the research.
- Authorship: Only those who have made a significant contribution to the research should be listed as authors. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
- Responsibilities of Editors
- Fair Review Process: Editors must ensure a fair, unbiased, and timely peer-review process. Decisions should be based solely on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.
- Confidentiality: Editors must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information to anyone other than those involved in the editorial process.
- Conflict of Interest: Editors should not be involved in decisions about papers in which they have a conflict of interest.
- Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat all submissions as confidential documents and must not share or discuss them with others.
- Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, without personal criticism of the author. Feedback should be constructive and professional.
- Disclosure of Conflict of Interest: Reviewers must declare any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from the review process if necessary.
- Timeliness: Reviewers should complete their reviews within the specified time frame or inform the editor promptly if they are unable to do so.
- Publisher’s Responsibilities
- Integrity of the Scholarly Record: The publisher is committed to maintaining the integrity and quality of the academic record. If errors or ethical breaches are found, the journal will issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern as appropriate.
- Support for Ethical Conduct: The publisher shall support the editors, reviewers, and authors in maintaining ethical standards throughout the publication process.
- Handling Misconduct
JBEP takes all allegations of misconduct seriously. Suspected cases of plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission, or unethical research will be investigated thoroughly following COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
For further guidance, JBEP follows the principles of COPE, ICMJE, and other internationally recognized ethical publishing frameworks.
