Plagiarism Policy

Asian Journal of Arts and Social Sciences (AJASS) maintains a strict policy against plagiarism in any form. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. Authors are expected to submit original work that has not been published elsewhere and is free from any form of plagiarism.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, ideas, images, or data from another source, including self-plagiarism (reusing one's own previously published work), without proper attribution.

  • Failing to cite the source of borrowed content.

  • Paraphrasing substantial parts of another work without proper acknowledgment.

  • Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently (duplicate submission).

Plagiarism Detection

All submitted manuscripts to AJASS are subject to plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin, iThenticate, or similar tools) before being sent for peer review.

Permissible Similarity Index

  • The overall similarity index should be below 15%.

  • No single source should exceed 2–3% similarity.

  • Properly cited quotes and references will not be considered as plagiarism but should still be kept within reasonable limits.

Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage (before or after publication), the following actions may be taken:

  1. Before publication:

    • Immediate rejection of the manuscript.

    • Notification to the authors and their affiliated institutions.

  2. After publication:

    • Retraction of the published article.

    • Issuance of a public notice of plagiarism.

    • Debarment of the authors from future submissions to AJASS for a specific period.

Responsibility

The corresponding author is solely responsible for ensuring that the manuscript complies with ethical publishing standards. All co-authors are expected to be aware of the manuscript’s content and confirm its originality.
